Corner bookcases are wonderful ways to use your corners, often one of the most underutilized areas in a house.
As for me, I’m not done buying and reading books, so a corner bookcase is a great way to expand my available bookshelf space. And some are expandable such as modular corner bookcases.
They come in all styles and shapes, from narrow ones, both short and tall, that only fit the corner, to longer units, often connectable modular units, that can go down the wall and around the corner. Two shelves high might be perfect for a children's book case, whereas 4 or 5 better for adults. Shelf depth is also something to consider. Standard shelf depth varies from twelve and twenty four inches.
And if bookcases based on the floor in a corner doesn't work, it may make sense to have something mounted on the wall, for example corner shelving. Corner cabinets or other units are also a possibility.
Of course they aren’t just for books. They are wonderful ways to store as well as display other items too. They can also display artwork, photos, trophies, knickknacks, and mementoes. Often smaller ones in triangle or pyramid shapes are used specifically for this purpose. Of course they can also hold TVs, video gaming units, and other electronics too.
Most have adjustable shelves so you can optimize for
paperbacks, atlases, etc.
I love the look of wood in the corner. I love dark woods like black walnut, cherry, and
Indian rosewood, as well as lighter woods for rooms which are naturally
darker, such as oak and maple.
Melamine is appropriate for many purposes, like the office or perhaps children’s books. It tough and hard, easy to clean and pretty much stain proof, and comes in colors like white, black, and fake wood patterns. It also doesn’t fade. Or a modern looking metal, perhaps chrome or wrought iron, and glass may be just the ticket? There are some great looking metal and class bookcases designed for corners.
